my wife and i have a 2008 on order and should be at the dealer within a week. someone had mentioned that the 2009 was going to get a real boost in the MPG. i started looking around on the web as well as priuschat.com. what i've read is that the 2009 could get upwards of 93 MPG. if the 2009 gets anywhere near this, i'd be foolish to buy the '08 now. does anyone know how accurate the '09 claims are and is anyone else thinking about waiting? Thanks from a newbie.
Keep in mind that the demand for the new prius will skyrocket at the beginning... Personally, I don't believe that the 2009 will offer dramatic improvements, as there have not been any official specs on the new redesign, only speculation. It really depends if you need a car NOW or not and if you got the budget to spend an extra premium to being "first in line" to get a 2009 model... which is supposedly going to come out in the later half of 2009...
lots of rumous on 2009, read somewhere they are looking to increase mpg by about 13%, which is a nice improvement. There have also been rumour of 1.8L+turbocharged with the latter being false I think. The 2009 will have a new body style though, and it looks pretty sporty
