Blocks and cells good matching voltage so what's the deal? Broken harness..... corrosion? So basically I'm getting disconnection between battery and ecu Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Possibly bad module, but more evaluation is needed... Are you comfortable with pulling the pack and cleaning corrosion and possibly replace voltage sensor harness if corrosion is found in it, as well as doing load testing and self discharge testing? We can walk you through all that, but first want to find out what you're feeling you're capable of doing?
I rebuild batteries I've just never had this code. So yes I'm more than comfortable pulling the battery and replacing cells, ecu, bus bars, harness.......etc it's just odd it didnt pull the P0A0F or other battery block cell or block voltage low codes. The car is still charging and driving flawlessly no limp mode. I also have 12 or more spare batteries for parts Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
If I remember correctly I had this code once... It turned out be an anomalous code that was triggered when the HV cables going into the battery pack weren't bolted down and came loose and were arcing because I did a triple swap of three packs in two cars in under an hour and a half after sitting in traffic for two hours... Speed kills!!! And while I'm always super up tight about triple checking my work on other people's cars and doubting myself and checking again. In this instance the problem was that because it was my own car, I was more confident than I should of been and didn't confirm it was bolted down before I put the cover on. I was upset at myself for a long, long time after this.
Hv battery wires as in the main wires that connect to the left side of the battery pack Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
P3030 is listed with problem areas of: junction block assembly (busbar module) Wire frame #2 (busbar and wire harness) Battery ECU Definitely look at all the module nuts/fasteners, the voltage sensing harness and the harness plug where it goes into the ecu. The plug/ecu receptacle is a known common corrosion issue. With all the battery issues you have brought to you, it would probably be worth your time to purchase a couple Wire Frame #2 assemblies from Toyota. It has the orange plastic frame, the copper busbars and all the sensor wires/ecu plug. They're around $56 each, but well worth it.
Yep... It got a bit smokey once the arcing had distance increased. I was celebrating my one year anniversary of helping people with bad battery packs. When it finally failed most of the error codes pointed to a bad inverter, which turned out to not be the case... To say I was mortified is an understatement. Half the problem was during the triple swap I was also answering questions and explaining things. I've been so incredibly paranoid ever since and focusing and not willing to talk while doing the work ever since. So glad I did that to myself and not someone else. And yeah, I've always been hard on myself like that all my life.
I think I also got that P3030 when the sensor plug into the HV battery ECU wasn't all the way pushed in too... Not the voltage sensing plug, but the plug above it that connects the temp sensors and donut voltage sensor, so check to see if that's secure. But you usually get a ton of other codes if that's not all the way plugged in. Now that I think about it, that donut shaped voltage sensor that the main negative cable goes through might be what you want to swap out if the code comes back...
Dang... Sure wish I could have all your cool graphics and error code PDF stuff and Bentley manual... Maybe you put together a file of everything you got and we buy it off you? I'm hella poor but I'd gladly scrounge up the cash for what you got!
I'll pull the HV battery soon and give it a go through I bought the car for myself for a work vehicle to haul all my tools and stuff in so I'll be taking my precious time she's not preety but fir what I need it for it will be ok Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Lol I actually posted about this car already it's was still just sitting at the owner's house so I decided I needed it Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
The great thing about it is that if you wanted to, you could part it out for a quick 2k. It's a no lose situation.
I actually want it to look rough..... kinda goes with my buisness name. If I can keep this thing going you know I can fix yours. I'm buying 3 more next week two are good cars ones a parts car Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
You could make some cool art out off all that hood damage... Maybe paint a moon on it and those hail dents could be the craters...
