Hi! First time poster here. I have a 2008 Toyota Prius with around 111500 miles. The check engine light is on and the code is P1121. Anyone here have an idea how much does it take to get it fixed? I live at LA, can you also recommend a reliable shop for me to take it there? Not a DIYer, that option is out. Thanks in advance!
That code on a Gen2 Prius (2004-2009) is almost always a failed coolant control valve (aka 3-way valve). This valve directs hot coolant into a thermos tank to speed engine warmup on a cold start. It's helps reduce emissions and has no effect on how the car drives. I always recommend using a Toyota part (more reliable). Expect $100-150 for the part, about 2 hours of labor, plus some coolant.
