Recently the 08 Prius red triangle came on with all the other bells and whistles… (pretty much unrivaled), replaced 12v battery, problem reoccurred. Hooked up OBD2 sensor, connected to Dr Prius app saw a battery code of P3000, no other codes. Here are 2 screenshots of the app. Is it just module 6 I should replace? If so, any recommendations on where to purchase and a link to the process.
Then of course whilst in they're clean up the computer n bus bars n nuts . Kids rock tumbler comes on handy .
The Prius hybrid battery is made up of 28 battery modules connected in series. Toyota has voltage sensing wires on every other module in the battery pack or 14 points to measure the voltage. So Toyota calls the two modules a block. Saying it differently, a block is comprised of two battery modules. On the Dr Prius screenshot, the vertical voltage bar graph shows the 14 blocks. It is pretty obviously to me that one or both of the battery modules that make up block #6 is bad. You can replace one or both of those battery modules to try to fix the problem, or you can replace the entire battery pack. That is a decision that you will need to make. There are hundreds of threads in this forum about replacing individual battery modules and about replacing the entire battery pack. Do a search on this forum and read about 20 of those threads to get an idea of the prose and cons of each process.
