My 08 Prius was vandalized and someone pulled the rear view mirror from the windshield and smashed the mirror. I was able to find the connector to the rear view mirror (3 wires, red, white and black wires) and rewired the connector wires back to the wires inside the car. I went to a wrecking yard and bought a mirror which I believe is the same one that was in it. The problem I’m having is that the radio, navigation and clock are still not working. They stopped working when the mirror was tore out. After plugging in the mirror, they still do not work. I’ve looked at fuses and cannot find any blown ones. Any suggestions? I’m stumped. Thanks, Mike
Yes, I believe it is. Also, I should add to the original post. That to starts the car, after this happened, you now need to plug the fob into the car. You also can not unlock the doors with the fob. Need to use the key.
Likely, at some point during the vandalism or the repair, the red wire feeding the mirror touched ground, blowing the DOME fuse. In gen2, nav, radio, and clock depend on this fuse. They may seem to come on with accessory power, but curiously, having ACC energized is not enough: with DOME blown, they don't work. DOME also supplies the Certification ECU and Door Control Receiver, so SKS and wireless door lock control are disabled when DOME is blown.
