After working on my daughter's Prius, the A/C would not work and we were getting the B1498 code. After troubleshooting, I found a bent pin (pin 1) in the 6 pin signal connector to the compressor. Fortunately, I was able to straighten it without it breaking, and get the mating connector to capture the pins and seat properly. After that, the A/C is working again. Admittedly, the bent pin is my fault. I had unplugged several of the connectors and moved the wiring harness out of the way to get better access to the intake manifold, valve cover, and EGR components for some maintenance I was doing (part of an even larger effort to repaint the car after my daughter used it as a shinny can in high school and college). I guess I must have not been careful enough when I put the harness back in place and plugged in this connector to the compressor. These pins are seemingly longer and possibly more prone to leaning over if they are bumped. Granted they are shrouded by the plastic housing of the connector and bumping them is not easy to do. Another possibility is that I let the mating connector on the harness tilt side-to-side as I removed it, which forced the male pin sideways. Anyway, I hope this helps someone if they experience a similar issue.
