Then test drive back to Huntsville and drop me off at home. Bring a bank check and the car is yours. Bob Wilson ps. My goal is to offer the car for what a wholeseller would offer. If you want to offer something else, please cite the source. My preference is to use eBay completed sales. On Friday, January 6th, it goes up on eBay for auction.
Just the one from the initial sale. But I notice others like to do a photo album. Just it is rainy today. I'll put together a set this afternoon if it stops and/or tomorrow when the rains move on. I'll also add the Firestone alignment report from May. As I pointed out, I'm only after wholesale price for the next owner and I'll try to make sure all the known defects are covered. I work on the principle of no surprises. Bob Wilson
It is supposed to be clear today so I'll take and post photos. In the meanwhile, here is what I got from a carfax.com report. My wife was originally listed as a co-owner but she no longer drives so "owner 2" is me. At the end of the carfax report, we can strike a deal on the recall that came out a month after my last service call: Feel free to run your own report. Note there is a free, recall from Toyota for the side curtain airbags. I have not taken the car in for that recall and have no plans to do it unless there is some 'earnest money', the cost of a pre-sale inspection. If the inspection shows a defect that kills the deal, I'll refund it. Otherwise, you're buying the pre-sale inspection and getting the recall done for free. Personally, I think it makes sense to have the recall done at your local Toyota dealer. This will update the history and let you establish a working relationship. Bob Wilson
Having the transmission flushed twice is refreshing to see. I don't see oil changes between 20,630 and 71,108 on the Carfax report. Do you have more service records? Other than that it looks good.
I did the second engine oil change at the shop on base. The rest were handled by Firestone that is walking distance from my house. I'll see if there is a way to get a machine copy of their records for this car. Firestone handled tires, life-time alignment, and engine oil changes. Bob Wilson
I bet if you visit Firestone they'll quickly print a maintenance log for you. My only experience is with Valvoline. They keep a record of all maintenance done at their shop and also report it to Carfax.
Carmax offered $6,000 - $240 sales tax that I'll have to pay. So the opening bid is $5,760 and the auction closes January 11, ~2:00 PM (CST). Their comment was the rear bumper cover needs to be replaced but we disagree on this point. I'm going out to take photos and get the Firestone maintenance records in about 15 minutes. Within an hour or so, I should have the photos posted. Friday, I'll put the car up on eBay. Thereafter, I'll answer questions but it will take 'earnest money' to hold up the sale to Carmax. Understand, I have a firm offer. If you want to snatch the car away from the wholesaler, the clock is ticking: Bob Wilson
Bob, you should make sure you go with whoever is buying the car to the bank that issues and buy the check there. Just so you know it's real
Got it! We are under a snow risk today so I'm home. Also, all the schools and many offices are closed. When the schools close, working parents stay home to take care of the kids. Plz give my cell phone a call and we'll coordinate a meeting, on Monday or Tuesday, with your banker and mine to make sure the transfer is done in a way that makes everyone happy. Also, let me know your flight schedule (airline and number) so I can schedule my trip to the airport. Understand I can't do Thurs Jan 19-22 due to an out-of-town trip. Bob Wilson
