2010 Prius audio control on steering only works on volume on all buttons

    Just bought a 2010 Prius with an after market radio.I bought the original radio and installed it.
    Now the control button on steering works incorrectly .All buttons including mode control volume mode.
    Weird ...What can be the problem ??

    maybe a bad spiral cable from the steering wheel controls to the pertinent device
