The issues im have with my 2010 prius is that the check engine light came on after air filter replacement. Well i went to have the codes read. It showed up a bunch of low circuit codes for maf, and o2 sensors. I replaced all of those brand new. Check engine light still on. Also when im at 70mph. If i give it a little gas itll reach 80mph. But if i floor the gas pedal itll reach about 74mph and hesitate and jerk.
The voice of experience tells me that the hesitation and jerking you feel is a misfire caused by one of a couple of different things. 1) At high engine RPM, the engine is trying to ingest the pool of junk residing beneath the throttle body in the intake. This is also causing the MAF code. You can remove the air intake hose and soak most of it up with a rag, but complete intake removal and hosing out the filth is highly recommended. 2) The spark plugs are past due for changing, and you have one or more that are misfiring under a high load(heavy throttle) condition. 3) Your vehicle is experiencing a head gasket failure. The coolant is being pulled into the cylinder past the gasket under high load condition causing a misfire. 4) The FixFinder printout you posted, in my opinion is a good tool, however it has its flaws like anything else. I don’t recommend throwing parts at a car, especially a Prius based on that printout. 5) Now that I have listed the serious reasons that could be causing the issue, there is one other possibility. Check all the connections on the air intake, from where the intake tube snaps into the air box, to the clamp where the rubber hose is clamped to the throttle body. Make sure all connections are secure. It is possible that unmetered air has found a way into the air box thru a partially/poorly secured joint in the air intake.
When you replaced the air filter, did you unplug the MAF sensor? Is the air filter seated properly? Does that air box close and latch?
Also, any details about the replacement engine air filter? It's not an reusable K&N filter for example, the kind you clean and oil? Was it immediately after this work that the trouble started?
