Hi there, New to the forum. Wow. I want to replace the plastic wheels/rims currently on my Prius with metal/alloy ones to get a nicer look. I like the appearance of the original Toyota / OEM metal wheels. Used are fine with me, but nothing too scratched. I’ve never done this before, so have some questions. 1. Are they called wheels or rims? 2. I bought new tires about 2 years ago and would prefer to keep the tires (Goodyear Assurance.. the invoice lists two numbers 195/65R15 or M6AETE1R1216) – so I presume I need to find wheels that fit those tires? That would be any 15” wheel designed for a 2011 Prius? 3. How do I figure out what my choices are if I want to stick with OEM wheels? Or arguments for *not* sticking with OEM? I'm looking for something pretty simple style.. just metal, not plastic. 4. What’s a good source for purchasing these & having them installed? I get the sense a dealership might be too expensive. If I buy used, I want to avoid damaged / cracked wheels.. Thoughts? Appreciate the answers to my newbie questions! Noobie Louis
One related question: when I bought this car new, it came with 1 metal wheel and 3 plastic wheels. Why did Toyota sell these cars new with non-matching wheels/rims? At some point in the last few years, a service technician must have swiped it / swapped it out bc now I have 4 matching plastic wheels.. I'd like to get 4 wheels that all match that (now missing) original metal wheel.
