Nice of them to make significant improvements mid cycle. Most would just wait for the all new model, 5 years down the road.

Well it'll start selling over here now it's CO2 is below the magic 100g/km.

It is the magic number because you don't pay road tax right? How much is the estimate saving?

The Prius+ would also get below 100g/km CO2 output despite being a bigger 7 seater.

Yeah sort of. Road tax is rated on differing bands A-M based on the CO2 output. A is below 100g/km and is £0, B is 101-120g/km at £20, through to M at 255+g/km and is £460 per year! The cost of vehicle tax for cars, motorcycles, light goods vehicles and trade licences : Directgov - Motoring

The existing Insight falls into band B so there is only a £10 per year saving by having a Prius on road tax alone. However, many doors are opened by Band A cars, such as being exempt from the £8/$12.70 daily London Congestion Charge (other cities are looking at adopting similar rules), having lower Business Usage tax rates and a much lower Company Car tax. Very few cars fall into Band A and those that do (other than the Prius/Auris/CT200h) are usually 'Super Mini's' with manual transmission that have been tuned for economy rather than acceleration! green-cars-emitting-less-than-100g/km-co2-low-emission-cars-congestion-charge-exempt

Anything that is normal to drive AND in Band A will be very popular here.
