I’m looking for help- my hybrid battery is dead in my 2012 Prius plug-in. The dealership shop has looked at it, and it is currently there They say a new battery is 10k (if they can find one, they say). Just doesn’t seem worth it on this ten year old car w/ 115,000 miles. And yet- I’m really disappointed I can’t get more years out of this car. Mechanic says this is really rare for the battery to die at this age. Dealership says they will buy the car for a few hundred dollars??? The tires alone are worth more than that! What should I do? Thanks for your help.
I think I'd look for a 3rd party repair shop that does hybrids and see if they can find a used or refurbished battery and install it. I don't know how rare the 2012 PIP is. Dealers will always be pricey as you've found out.
you don't have the 10/150 warranty in maine? would you mind telling us what symptoms you had, and what trouble codes the dealership pulled.
Do not stress about it. Buy a used battery from the site below for $500-$1000 have a mechanic installed it for a few hundred dollars. Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market
