When I wash my 2012 Prius and pass the hose spray over the front door handles the car gives an alarm "buzz" for about five seconds. The car is unlocked while i wash, I don't spray they area hard or use a pressure washer but it happens every time. Anybody have the same issue? I couldn't find any similar experiences on a web search. I park my vehicle outside and would not like to flatten the battery if the alarm stayed on in a prolonged rain event. So far i have not heard the alarm during rain events but its odd that hose water triggers it and not the rain.
Yup. Don’t leave your key inside the car (the long buzzer means you’re trying to lock the car while the car is on or while the key is inside the car). Or just lock the car and keep the key inside the house while you wash.
Some info from the Owner's Manual, regarding the water spray: Still, the alarm sound is usually due to fob left in vehicle?
ive had the doors lock and unlock while washing, but I've never heard an 'alarm buzzer'. anyone have a recording?
It's a long beep, the same beep tone when you put the car in reverse but the beep duration is about 5 seconds. This has happened to me; while washing car & leaving fob in vehicle trying to lock vehicle with touch handle SKS thingy.
