The vehicle is a 2012 Toyota Prius Base Model w/179000 miles Last routine service was 04/07/22 w/175175 miles I do not drive the car often anymore but it was an everyday driver until I retired in Feb 22. The Check Hybrid System - Pull over in a safe place & yellow triangle came on. The only other light was the tire warning light. I used an ODBII (FIXD) and no issues were detected. I'm looking for advice and if anyone has any information on my issue. I'm searching for a 2nd opinion but for now here is what Toyota of Plano said. Transaxle Repair/Replacement $7999.25 : replace hybrid trans axle AND inverter isolation fault codes for ground issue in HV wiring. May find frame wire burnt when apart will have to advise if found. Other $899.75 : disassemble frame wiring to battery to inspect further damage when replacing transaxle and inverter, approx 10hrs additional labor to replace floor wire for HV if cables are burnt, will advise on part price if discovered
Unfortunate for you, you will be prey to these vultures. Either they want to buy your car or rip you off in repairing it, you will have to see if it’s worth the trouble. but try calling Matt at Texashybridbatteries.com he may be able to get you a more honest diagnostic on what’s wrong with the car. But always remember the vultures out there when your repair options are presented to you
At least it’s not 8 grand… seriously, it sounds like a number just pulled out of the air. Ditto for that second one.
Once you clean corrosion in ECU and replace the wire frame, which is $70 part and two total hours labor the error codes pointing to the Transaxle will no longer be a thing... Find a real mechanic rather than the con-artists criminals who ruin people's lives at Toyota Stealerships...
@2012Prius2 ...... Did the Toyota dealership give you the trouble codes that they detected? If so, can you please tell us. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
