Just bought a 2014 V for my daughter. The MFD starts up perfectly fine showing the Toyota symbol when you turn the car on and all functions seem to work fine but after about 30 seconds it’s starts to get white lines until after a minute or two the screen has gone almost completely white with lines. Anything I can do before just replacing it?
The 57011 head units and Harmon navigation/expansion boxes in the 2012-2014 v have shown a tendency for heat cycling to form solder cracks on the circuit boards rendering functionality and/or display intermittent or failed. We replaced a 2011 vintage 57011 and expansion box (no JBL) with a 2014 vintage set and so far, so good. If I had to do it over again, I would roll the dice with a circa 2015-2017 510057 replacement set, including expansion box and harnesses.
They don't cost much on ebay but be sure it comes with the bottom mounted expansion box. Replacing it is not hard either but you need the instructions. Instructions Start at Fig 2-5 through 2-11 and then jump to Fig 3-4.
