There's probably been a solution posted, but I haven't found precisely what I'm seeking: Got the basic (no nav, no video games, no espresso machine built in) video-screen enabled head unit on the 2014 I bought after a tree hit my 2010 a couple months back. (No, really. my car didn't hit the tree. The tree hit my car while I was sleeping. Also took out my wife's Camry. Woke her...but I slept through it. I love cold meds. But I digress......) I finally dumped about 1200 songs to a USB drive- and of course, it only recognized 255. I now have them split into root folder, and four sub folders. Here's my hope: Is there any way to have the unit recognize (and delve into) the subfolders while in repeat mode? I'd hate to have to choose between 5 different random playlists. (I know, first world problems...but someone who runs an internet radio station AND worked in radio and music production gets bored with just a few hundred songs to choose from. EGADS! THE PEOPLE ON SOME OF THESE SONGS ARE FRIENDS OF MINE! DON'T MAKE ME FEEL LIKE A PARENT TRYING TO CHOOSE WHICH CHILDREN THEY LIKE BETTER THAN OTHERS!!! OK, I've got that off my chest now. Sorry for the outburst. I really can get through this. Send sedatives, stuffed animals, and funny pictures of cats. Really, I'll be OK.....someday. Be well -UF
Looks like you want to split them up but name them folder 1, folder 2 etc, naming a root folder seems to be making it the only folder, windows or OS?
I've essentially done that- sub 1, sub 2, etc. If I go into random mode, it stays in the root folder, and won;t look in the sub folders.
***PROBLEM SOLVED*** Last night, I stumbled on my solution quite by mistake- and now I feel kinda stupid. It seems when one presses the random button once, it goes into random mode, and displays a musical note. This is when it will NOT go into subfolders. Pressing it a second time changes the musical note to a little icon of a folder. In this mode, it will dig into subfolders. Now, I just need to experiment with editing my files so artist names and song titles display properly. That's what will take a while, methinks. Might be a task to kill time when I am flying to Cuba in a couple weeks- *if* I decided to take the laptoip.
