I own a 2014 Toyota Prius. It currently has 70,407 miles. When is it absolutely necessary to have the first tune up performed? Any other services that should be performed now or in the near future? Thanks in advance.
http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/omms-s/T-MMS-14Prius/pdf/2014_Toyota_Prius_WMG_lr.pdf Explains the Toyota service intervals (there really is no tune up in the way there was in the 1980s) At 60,000 miles/72 months (page 46) you should have had several air filters replaced. At 100,000 miles/120 months (page 51) you should replace several coolants. At 120,000 miles 144 months (page 54) you should replace the spark plugs Outside of Toyota's service schedule; I would replace the ATF WS in the transaxle every 60,000 miles.
What do you mean by "tune up"? I don't think it really exists anymore, in the traditional sense, and never was all that definitive. I would just follow the US Warranty and Maintenance Booklet, except for additional transaxle fluid drain-and-fill, say at 30K miles, then every 60K miles thereafter (or sooner for the first, imho). Also, note: there are two levels of brake inspection: the cursory "visual" inspection at tire rotation, and a more thorough inspection involving pulling the caliper off. The latter is every 30K miles or 36 months.
