Dealer wants to clean rotors on rear. Any reason why?? 80,000 miles. They said looked rusty/ Never cleaned any on all the cars before unless replacing pads. Were not going to replace pads.
no, the rotors rust where the pads don't make contact. no worries. dealer just wants to clean your wallet. make sure you do the slide pin lube at the appropriate intervals though
Brake pads clean parts of rotors they touch, who gives a fig about the rest of the rotor. You do things to the rotor when they measure the thickness and it falls below spec or it gets seriously scored enough that it would effect braking. Otherwise, you let them be. I figure mine are good for well over 100k miles.
