So I've had my new 4 touring for 2 weeks. This morning, the large display started continuously rebooting (making any functions such as listening to music, nav, etc...unusable). I did a quick search of the forums and didn't come up with anything. Yes, I'm taking the car in; however, I wanted to see if anyone else has had issues and what was the fix? I did install entune last week. But had no issues until this morning. Temperatures moderate 50 degrees. Been raining a couple days, but car electronics should be relatively dampproof since all cars are exposed to the elements. Thanks for any help...
Are you using Entune? Others have reported problems caused by that app. If you are, you might try un-installing it and see if your problems go away.
Thanks. I installed entune, but have not used any of the apps. I really only did it to get the screen to look like the one in the manual!
Turn the car off, have a beer and enjoy a good dinner. Turn car back on afterwards. Not saying this will work for you, but it did for me. No problems since (it's been several months and about 10k miles). I wish you the best of luck.
Ok I jinxed myself. It happened again the day after I took it to the dealer to make sure there were no codes. Service advisor stated that he has seen this in a few late model toyotas and that it appears that it is a conflict with one (or more) of my smartphone apps. So, when it started shutting down and rebooting, I turned the phone off and it stopped immediately. I've since reconnected the phone and been fine for a couple more days. My main concern was a faulty computer in the car. An app conflict can be resolved, so I'm a little reassured, assuming that's all it is.
