I found a video that demos opening the moonroof on the 2016 Prius. It now has separate switches for popping it up/close and sliding it open/close. It appears that the panel now slides open within the vehicle like the ford fusion I'm renting. You lose a bit of headroom, but likely gain better aerodynamics and looks when open. Exciting news if I still fit. 29 minute mark. Very nice informative walkthrough.
well done video, thanks bisque! will that crease above the glove box hold a pen? i like the lower cargo space, but i don't sleep in my car. looks like plenty of space to slide 5 or 6 of the wrong type of floor mats under the pedal. i like the mirror switch position much better. love the hard buttons on the steering wheel. i don't like my rubber ones. hvac buttons look great, but i still don't like the auto button next to fan off. what happens if i spill my drink in the cell phone charger?
Am I correct looking at pictures / brochure specs that the auto AC & solar ventilation is gone on the Gen 4?
Yes. Solar option is gone. However there are programmable options to change the remote to open all windows and moonroof. It also looks like there are options to open and/or close all can be added for the mechanical key. Probably something like turn and hold to unlock and open everything or lock and close everything. Check the user manual for customizable features. They start on page 752. Page 756 is what you want though. This should allow you to air the car out quickly. Although I will still miss the solar package, even though it brings in dust and ash from the outside.
