Hello, Still waiting for delivery of my 2018 Prius Prime Advanced. In the mean time can someone with a similar Prime answer the following question: When using Dynamic Cruise Control and the vehicle in front slows to a stop (as in stop and go traffic) with the Prius automatically start back up again when the vehicle in front resumes movement? I "think" the answer is "no" but can someone with firsthand experience confirm one way or the other? If you read the Lexus documentation they seem to make a point to say the car WILL resume but I don't see a similar statement regarding the 2018 Prius Prime. Thanks, J
From the Owner's Manual, it's saying you need to do one of these actions, to make it resume. You can download pdf format Owner's Manual from Toyota Tech Info site, the manuals section.
For our specific Prime, it doesn't. You have to tell it to resume either by pressing the accelerator or pushing up on the stalk as shown above. (There are systems that do automatically resume if you were stopped for less than 3 seconds but that is not the case for the Prime)
Another fun fact, if you had the cruise off and then come up to traffic and stopped the car yourself, you can set the cruise while at a full stop as long as there is a vehicle in front of you. When that vehicle moves, you have to do either of the above mentioned actions to initiate movement. iPad ?
Maybe not 3 seconds, but I seem to remember the display said 0 for a second and it still resumed by itself.
Yes, I've found that the prime WILL resume from a complete stop for a very short period of time (the stop was enough to unload the front shocks at a minimum). I honestly would rather have to hit something to resume than have the car do it itself. Especially in the city you have jaywalkers of all kinds trying to fight their way through stopped traffic... if the car decides to start up again by itself that could be really bad (and yes I know there's pedestrian detection but I would never want to rely on that).
