SOPHISTICATED UTILITY VEHICLE: ALL-NEW 2024 LEXUS GX REDEFINES SUV - Lexus USA Newsroom The 2024 Lexus GX 550 has been introduced with a twin version of the i-Force 3.4L V6 engine and 10-speed Direct Shift Automatic Transmission in place of its 5.0L V8. The Premium, Premium+, Luxury and Luxury+ trim get the third row for seating up to 7 people. The other two trims, Overtrail and Overtrail+ gets rid of the third row (for now) for extra cargo space and 33" tires mounted on 18" wheels. It stands a little taller by at least 1/2 inch because of those 33" tires. Not to be outdone by the 4Runner, it'll include a pop-out rear window. Yet to be defined is the Hybrid powertrain to be added later. Pretty sure it won't be the 2.5L e-CVT Hybrid. bestcarweb.jp has said since it is based on the same platform as the smaller Toyota Land Cruiser Prado it'll get the 2.4L turbo hybrid from the Toyota Crown Platinum. But why would they when the RX 500h F Sport Performance get 367 hp. GX 500h F Sport Performance sounds fishy since the twin turbo V6 based GX 550 pumps out 349 hp while the GX 500h F Sport Performance gets 367 hp. Maybe they'll just call it the GX 500h and call it a night. Of course this might tweak Marketing's OCD of naming any 500h, F Sport Performance. Seems simpler to just dupe the Tundra i-Force Max and call it the GX 550h F Sport Performance. Yeah, no that won't get that past Marketing either. Or just steal the TX 550h+ 3.5L V6 based with a non plug-in hybrid and call it the GX 550h. A kind of back to the future RX 400h powertrain?
The first picture makes it look simply like a rebadged Toyota LC Prado. The rear has more Lexus features (like the current light signature) to better differentiate it.
