Anyone else not done it? I change my own oil (now) & filters & use Mobile1, feel like I got ripped by the dealer at 15k service (oh, they "adjusted" brakes and replaced the cabin filter) cost $180. Maybe they do inspect everything to charge the time to not replace anything. So I'm also concerned about the ICE and inverter coolant. The maintenance guide foot note says to "drain and flush the cooling system and refill..." Then I noticed the same every 15k from then on. Now I've read here the damn coolant is supposed to go 100K so how is that possible? I think buying a gallon from the dealer & keeping it filled should be ok. The brakes although messy I can clean myself, which leaves adjusting the brakes. What else is there other than the emergency brake cable & cleaning?

IIRC the new model Prius is to get initial coolant(s) changed at 100k miles, and every 50k thereafter. If you find that topping-off is required over time, that would be very unusual (and deserving of attention).

The cabin air filter is the easiest DIY of all. Often discussed here.

I don't think that you will have much need to clean and adjust brakes. Other inspections under the car are typical of modern front-wheel drive vehicles. If you are familiar with those, or can learn, you are all set.

Please inspect the tires carefully as part of your normal rotations, and see to their correct inflation on even shorter intervals.

It is coming into vogue to suggest transmission fluid changes. If I had a new Prius I would do that at 60k. Spark plugs at about 100k, and maybe remove at apply anti-sieze when you are halfway there.

Eventually the brake fluid will need changing; that is pretty much a Toyota shop job because the THHT is required.

Prius maint doesn't take much time. Surely I spend more time talking about it than doing it.
