Southern California produces conundrums. There isn't just one dealership, there are ten. There is also the hybrid specialist shops, the standard shops, and the oil change shops. And there is Groupon, and ads and coupons. Groupon, ads and coupons, oh my! There is also a budget. The 30K service is not on the ToyotaCare (what brilliant marketing to stop before the big one) and has the longest list. The first question is, has anyone who are not diy had accomplished the 30K service in pieces that made it more affordable, or have found dealerships willing to do everything else after you got an oil and filters changes elsewhere? And have you found differences between using quick oil change services for quality, and the dealership? What happens with the reminder setting and nag screen if not serviced at the dealership? Is it unadvisable to consider not using the dealership?
30k is not really big. tyre rotate, oil and filter, check/clean/replace air and cabin filter. inspect a bunch of stuff. anyone can do it. it's probably worth $1-150. i would tay away from quick oil places. if you can't find a reliable shop through friends and family, go to the dealer. call all 10 for pricing.
My maintence required soon banner light just came on....I now have 30,500 miles now on Gema...I will do the cabin air filter myself and the engine air filter too....those are easy but I'll schedule the oil to be done by someone else.....
