Does my 2013 with 45k miles need to go into the dealer for its 45000 mile maintenance or is that something that can be done at a local mechanic ?
What does the owners manual say for servicing? Probably just a tire rotation and “inspection”. Anybody can handle that.
Yeah not even an oil change: The myriad inspections are mostly "mailed in" by the dealership I'd suspect. There's really nothing to do. Other services have a more in-depth brake inspection (every 30K miles in the States), and I would wake up and pay attention for that. But 45K is pretty much a non-event: just tire rotation.
anyone can do prius maintenance until the 'major service' of changing all the fluids at 100-120k. then, it takes a bit more knowledge, scan tool and focus. but not a lot. some mechanics have it and most don't. just show them your maintenance schedule in the book and ask how much to perform. make sure your brake calipers slide pins were lubed or at least inspected at 30k, seems to be an item most dealerships are not paying attention to.
