While driving the Prius today I looked at the 5 minute mpg screen and it had the shape of a car in it. I hadn't seen the car picture in the screen before but to the right of the screen it said the car symbol equaled 50wh or something like that. Can someone let me know what that means?
That is the amount of electricity you have put back into the battery from regen. Regen is regenerative braking which occurs when the electric motor becomes a generator during most braking and the "normal" brakes are not, or barely, used. I live in the flat lands so getting more than 1 car per period is an accomplishment! If you live in a hilly or mountainous area, you'll rack up tons of these. Consider them free tokens of energy just like in a video game.
of course, you have to go up those hills before you can go down them. but at least you get some energy back, unlike most cars.
