5000 mile service - the dealer DIDN'T overfill the oil!

After reading so many horror stories about service techs overfilling the oil on the Prius, I was surprised to find the car had EXACTLY the correct amount of oil with my first service. Was this a fluke?

I won't recommend this dealer, though, because I told them my rear speakers have never worked but that I just waited for my 5000 mile service to bring it in. Their response was that there's a slider to adjust the sound level from front to rear - the service writer had also told me that on the phone when I made the appointment and I assured him I already knew that, and I'd used it to determine that no sound comes out of the rear speakers, and that I'd repeated the test many times over the 6 months I've owned my Prius. The service writer repeated this advice to me again when I brought it in, and the service tech wrote the same thing on my service form - they never even checked! The 'night service manager' suggested maybe it's an intermittent problem, so I had him go outside to listen to the rear speakers himself while another employee adjusted the sound from front to rear. Sure enough, it was pretty quiet back there. So I have to make another trip back there to get them to fix it - I think I'll have to take a day off work so I can sit there and wait.

That is totally unacceptable. Having to wait 6 months to listen to your stereo in a car that cost so much is crazy. I think you may have been too timid. You knew there was a problem and you let them talk you into waiting. Remember you can take your car into another dealer for service if needed and if you have to, find out whom the area service manager and let him know what is going on. If that does not work call Toyota directly and work with the corporate offices. What ever you do you need to extract compensation and an apology from that dealer. If they don't make things right by giving you free oil changes/ cargo nets/ free clear bra or even free xm radio with free install, then let us here at Priuschat.com know who it is so we can all steer clear of that dealer. Even the lurkers who are thinking of buying can know to go somewhere else.

P.S. I am sorry you had to go through that. :( I know you will enjoy her even more when she is well again.

They ARE giving you a loaner vehicle when you take it back, right? You better demand it -- they owe it to you. They sure better not expect you to miss any time from work. Or do you even trust those morons who couldn't even be bothered to check the complaint in the first place?
