I went to Autozone yesterday to purchase 0-20 Mobile one. The last time I purchased it there it was $6.49/qt. they now want $8.00 a quart. I have searched in walmart but they no longer carry that grade. The Dealership charges $49.95 a Toyota synthetic oil change. Why has this oil gotten so expensive? And why has it become difficult to get?

Yup it varies market to market. Here: autozone doesn't carry any 0w20 flavors but walmart has it in both mobil 1 and valvoline brands. Both are around $6.17/qt. My Autozone did have the gen3 oil filter in the STP brand.

I'd suggest checking (call) other nearby branch stores. It's amazing how they can sometimes stock different inventories.

Just had mine changed yesterday at the dealership. I provided the 0W-20 Toyota oil ($6.97/qt.), the filter cartridge (~$4-5), and the drain plug gasket (free). Purchased everything at my dealer's Parts Dept.

    Labor was $12.95.

I gave them 4 qts. and told them I'd top it off with the fifth.

Do the math. $49.95 is not a bad deal.

Wal Mart here has quit carrying Mobil 1 0W20 but they have Valvoline for approximately $6.20. I bought a case of Mobil 1 0W20 on sale at Napa Auto Parts a few months ago for $5 a quart. Sometimes you can find good deals on line for 0W20 with free shipping.

I think with most new Japanese and some American cars using 0W20 the supply should increase over the next year or two.
