There has been an ad running on tv about Toyota's 9 models that get over 30 mpg. The Prius appears at the beginning of the commercial but is not mentioned by name. There is also a section on the Toyota site with the information. It lists the Prius mpg at 51, not the 60 often quoted from the EPA numbers. If you read the fine print, it is quoted mpg on the highway. Of course, this makes the other 8 cars mileage look better, but decreases the Prius. Click this link to see the Toyota website. Jeff
At least 51 is close to the real mpgs one's likely to get (I get consistently 50-51 in 70 % highway 30 % city driving). Once you own and drive a car that gives you 50 mpgs, it's harder to consider buying one that'll give you 30+.
Could some Prius owners who own these other Toyotas look at the advertised mpgs and tell the rest of us if they're close to reality? A friend of mine has a RAV4 and I've hear him complain about poor gas mileage. Echo-43 Matriz- 36 Solara- 33 Corolla- 40 Rav4- 30 Camry- 33 Celica- 33 MR2- 32
That would be correct. The MPG figures for all of the vehicles advertised is their highway fuel economy rating. They are keeping the comprison "accurate."
I saw that commercial a few months ago and was really surprised they didn't mention the Prius. I didn't realize they showed it at the beginning. But it's weird they almost go out of their way not to advertise the car.
the corolla figures arent very close. its more like 34 mpg. that is for a 2000. i also had a 1987 that got 31 overall.
