Hi Where is the A/C amplifier located? Local service told me that it needs to be changed and I need to figure out if I can change it myself. I am actually hoping to find a used replacement by getting to it first. Thx for the help
Pull off that cover panel by pulling the rear, vertical, edge toward you (i.e., outward, toward the car door), then slip the panel rearward so its forward tongue comes out of the forward slot. -Chap
so this is the story: Kid left lights on in the car and battery was drained. We tried to bumpstart the car with another car but as soon as the cables were connected (right poles!) the car started beeping. Tried few times, it was the same and we gave up. I called the road help and they could not start the car either so the car went to Toyota workshop. There some fuses and another part in the fusebox are changed. Since then the AC has problems. It is always off when I start the car which was not the case before. Previously, it would remember the last settings. The main problem is that it does not cool down although I switch the temperature to lowest. It only blows hot air. Same Toyota workshop checked the car and they said that amplifier (8865047080) is not giving out the right signals. They ask a lot of money (10+% of the market value of the car) to change it I have looked up some scrap yards for the part but they don't even know about the part. I called a Toyota workshop in Sweden and they said that they have never changed this part before... I am very unlucky it seems
Cannot see the pictures. I have watched a youtube video where a guy uses a credit card to open them. I may try it
It pulls off easily enough with fingers; just observe the right direction of pulling, as described. I hope the mods can figure out what became of the images I attached. Probably still on my phone, but I don't have time right now to upload them again. -Chap

You have to physically go and show them where the part is or show them the pictures here. I got the part for $40(Very dusty) at a salvage yard today. Mechanic is still working on the car right now. AC is still not working after replacing the amplifier a few minutes ago. Maybe soon InshaAllah...
Hi Chap, Any suggestions on easy replacement of the evaporator temp sensor on a 2012 Prius V, without pulling apart the whole dash?
That might be a tall order; I think the evaporator's pretty buried, and the temp sensor might be right on it. If you want to see if you can pioneer an approach, I would start by getting access to the repair manual (more info) and get really familiar with the drawings and access procedures, and see if there is a shortcut that jumps out at you.
