i know our priuses have an in-cabin microfilter (a/c filter). i just noticed that one of the switches on the climate control is an a/c filter switch. So does that mean if the switch isn't toggled, the air inside the car isn't being filtered? kind of odd because every other car i've had has filtered in-cabin air automatically w/o the use of any switches.
What I understand is that even in recirculation mode that the outside air vent is not tightly shut in order to add a small amount of outside ventilation. When you hit the filter switch, the damper door shuts tight in order to recirculate the air completely through the cabin filter to remove any dust or pollen inside the cabin. The switch has a 3 minute timer on it and then it reverts back to recirculate.
