The a/c quit working in my 2008 Prius. It had the following faulty components replaced: Evaporator, condenser, expansion valve, and a relay. It has spent the better part of a month in and out of the repair shop, because now A/C works fine when we start out, but after about an our, it just quits, and blows warm air. If we stop somewhere, when we get back on the road, it works again, but only for about an hour. Or if we just shut if off after it quits, and leave it off for 30 minutes or so, it starts working again. But only for about an hour. No one can figure it out. Ideas?
Need to find an ac shop that knows variable capacity, electric driven ac systems. It could be low on r134a but you can't just add gas. Low freon will work for awhile until the evaporator freezes up. Given some off time, the evap defrosts and it works again. R134a should be removed and then accurately weighed in to be accurate on a variable capacity system. Odds are it has a leak which should be found with a good electronic leak detector.
