Yesterday my 2011 Prius started shaking when the brakes were applied. Today it started shaking hard a few seconds after the engine was started. The dealership suspected that the auxiliary battery was dead so I drove 40 miles to buy one. It's been replaced but there's no change. I start it up, everything seems fine except for the "Check Hybrid System" display and the amber engine light. Then it starts shaking and soon turns itself off if I don't stop it soon enough. Any ideas?
Welcome to Prius Chat . How many miles on your Prius? Has it ever been in an accident? Did the dealer give you a list of codes that the car has logged? Have you looked under the hood for any loose connections? Keep us posted .
I think mileage is around 72,000. No accidents. No codes. I looked under the hood but didn't see anything. It's pretty packed in there. We have it towed to the dealership tomorrow
The verdict is that a hose was loose and now a new purge valve is needed. I think that’s what was said. I’ll see the paperwork when I pick it up.
Hopefully @David Green will post a copy of the diagnosis as there might be a couple of things going on.
