Hello folks I have a 2005 Gen2 Prius, I just replaced the ABS Actuator with a used version of the updated part #44510-47051and its working great, however, I am hearing on Facebook Prius groups that the Brake Booster also has to be replaced and for a few years now I thought I understood that both the Actuator AND Booster are integrated into one part and are not separate parts. I've searched forums but couldn't find any mention of this. Can someone please clarify this for me? Thanks!
Ok so what I called a Booster is actually called a Actuator? Thank you and Sorry, i am not a mechanic
I guess the name is brake booster for those parts. I'm not sure how they name it. These parts fail over time and both Gen 2 and Gen 3 cars had extended warranty coverage for these parts. But both free campaigns are over.
In a Gen 2, the single box that you replaced is both the actuator and the booster pump. To keep things extra confusing, a "booster pump" is not the same thing as a "booster", and the Gen 2 is the only Prius generation that does not have a booster (even though it does have a booster pump). So yes, the naming makes people go crosseyed, and different generations have mixed 'n' matched the parts differently; you can look at this old post (but not the old prices in it) for the low-down.
