Good morning folks! I am hoping you can be of assistance. I was recently driving along the highway when I hit a small dip in the road (nothing serious, i drive over this everyday) and all three of the lights mentioned in the subject line came on. Nothing physical otherwise was noticed, as far as I could tell the car drove and has driven the same since. However, I still looked up the codes and all signs pointed to bring to a dealer ASAP. I brought it to a local Toyota dealer where they ran diagnostics. This is what the invoice states: C/S: Vehicle stability control light on, anti break dash light on, exclamation point dash on Error Codes: c0200 for RH Speed sensor circuit. It is currently working. Code C0205 for LH Front speed sensor and it is not communicating and needs to be replaced Estimate is 564.84. Code C1319 is present and further diagnostic needs to be performed at an additional cost of 115.45. Diagnostic will revealed whether car needs stroke simulator (738.72) or skid control ECU (2403.30). I only paid for the initial diagnostic and have chosen to bring the car elsewhere for a second opinion due to the costs and the fact they are charging another diagnostic fee just to determine if its the Stroke simulator or ECU. With all this being stated, the car still feels fine. I HOPE all of this is just a wiring/relay issue but that is me just being optimistic. Now for my questions; -Can I continue driving if no issues are noticeable and be considered safe? -Has anyone had this issue and replaced the ECU or Stroke simulator? -Any way I can determine if its a relay/wiring issue (no car repair experience)? My 2ยข for what it's worth. Whenever you power over a dip, there's a possibility that your speed sensors may pick up that your wheels and engine rev's are high. That will throw codes. Sometimes the Prius can be completely/temporarily disabled from such events. It's similar to doing a burnout on gravel or ice, typically. Your avatar doesn't show where you are, so that might be a non-issue where you live. The Prius will prevent damage to the motor/generators though, when it's detecting an over speed, by shutting the event down. It's not recommended, but last time we had the Prius up at our Montana home, I disconnected the sensor - because there were certain spots of ice that I knew about - and knew not to let it rev high. as they say, "don't try this at home" . . . . . . and WELCOME !! .
FWIW, The ChuggyPig (Gen II Prius with 100,000 on odometer) will flash the ABS VSC light occasionally, especially of cornering on adverse camber, or even hitting a manhole cover or painted line on the road surface, particularly if it's raining. I put it down to the G-forces, and the suspension causing a wheel to be momentarily un-weighted, and the sensors get all confuserated, and it's only for an instant as everything settles back down, but to be confronted with a flashing warning on the dash can be a bit unnerving! (If it gets too annoying, you can fix it by putting a small square of black tape over the warning light! - hope this helps -
