Hello. I have a 2008 Toyota Prius base model. The AC pressures check out perfect with the manifold gauges. The electric fan turns on every time the AC is turned on. On occasion the AC will blow warm air. After shutting it off, and also turning the car off then restarting the car and turning the AC back on it then begins to blow cold air. Whatever could cause this to happen? It has now happened twice in the past two months. Otherwise, operation of the AC is perfect. Relays going bad? Shows no codes.
How far do you usually drive it? If it's short distances, then you might just have a inverter pump failure. The AC will normally shut off when the inverter gets too hot from the lack of cooling. You won't really notice if your drive is usually less than 30 minutes.
The car can be sitting in the driveway overnight and around noon when I decide to go somewhere it will start and it did not have cool air. I immediately shut it off and restart it and you have the cool air. The first time it happened I had driven to a botanical garden, had been in there for about 3 to 4 hours came out started the car with no AC shut the car off restarted and I had the AC.
What are you using to check codes? If you have the capability, I would look at data for the air conditioner ecu. See what's different from when it works to when it doesn't. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
