When pulling out into traffic from a stop or any quick acelleration the car feels like it is about to shut off and then it kicks in. I did not notice this on my wife's prius. I would say that it has been getting worse over the last 10k miles. I have 63k miles on the car and it was not like this at first. I have not missed any scheduled services and they have all been done by the dealer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Tire wear, maybe? If tires start to slip the anti-slip system acts and pauses acceleration.

Several people have reported this to be more of a problem with the latest rev engine computer code. (update to solve the stalling problem.)

Helps to press the accelerator a bit slower, when you first start to accelerate.

If it is really getting worse on its own, probably worth getting checked out. First check it is not due to the change in gasoline.
I've had some marginal quality tanks. I suspect with the change to Ethanol there has been a shortage, and they may be skimping on the octane at times. Or it could be the problem of water in the fuel. I've had tanks where I got terrible mpg and added an octane booster and everything got better. Normally I would not notice any difference.

I have not noticed any acceleration issues, but I rarely floor the accelerator from a stop. The anti spin alone forces me not to do it since any sand in the road can cause a slip and then the power cuts off as it is supposed to.

I'll second that. Check your tire thread. When the road is wet and uneven, it feels the same when I accelerate, and the traction control light flashes too.
