With lots of folks wishing for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, is there a way to repurpose an old tablet to accomodate this desire for the Prime? i.e. install app on repurposed tablet (RT), mount RT in location (over current screen), connect RT power, connect RT sound through AUX, etc. Probably already been done on other cars. Then one would say, "Just use your phone instead of a RT."
If you replace 11.6 display with RT as you described, many of the functionality essential to drive the car would be lost. I think. How are you going to control all the HVAC functions for example? I am all for disabling 11.6 display permanently. I have no need to replace it with anything else. Don't want AA or ACP. If someone knows how to bypass the 11.6 display completely, please let me know.
Not suggesting disabling the current directly display. Just augmenting it with the RT for ACP or AA only.
OK. But if the RT is placed directly over the current screen, how do you plan to use the OEM screen when need to be? I guess, take off the RT each time???
this has been done in gen 2 or 3. so i don't see why not for those technically inclined. one guy cut out the whole center dash and did a beautiful finishing job. looked factory.
