What are the thoughts on adding an additional inverter radiator to keep the temps down during heavy driving? One of the complaints about the Prius under hard driving as the inverter temps become very high. I was considering either using a Tranmission cooler with a fan, daisy chaining the coolant from the OEM invertor radiator to the new one. Something like this: The OEM setup seems to just run with a basic inverter radiator show below: Part labeled: G9010A Would seem fairly simple to do...Prob done for less than $200.
i doubt it would be necessary, unless you lived in death valley, and drove like a maniac all the time. another fan might not be a bad idea though, if you really drive hard that much.

for autocross, it might be a good idea, but i don't think it's needed on the street. i'd have liked to see his car, especially at the track. it would be awesome to see a prius punk out the other cars.
I think your talking about adding an aux rad if so Excellent idea Justdidit. Toyota Engineering saw this heat coupled effect in the Gen II and improved upon it with the Gen III with a separate Inverter rad like your attempting. Get a separate rad that's not heat sinked to the ICE rad like in a Gen III and now your talking! Its worth a few mpg's and longer life for the Inverter & trans. Very tight in there with existing ICE rad but your on the right track. Photo's please as I would do this myself. I bet there's a market to retrofit the Gen III rad system into the Gen II. It's a superior Inverter cooling system. Btw, you are a maniac. Lol.

antifreeze is corrosive. that unit might not like it. and it might be made in china. can you read coolant temps w/ your scan tool? unless there's a real need for it, i'd add a fan before i started plumbing.
I have used aux fans alot in other high performance cars and they are very hungry.You must use a switching relay from battery B+. G2 already has very efficient fan set up not sure if aux push fan would help. I think you would achieve superior results using standalone G3 Inverter tank instead. Like the doner car idea.Fan not needed in stock G3 set up. In G3 not having the Inverter rad coupled with ICE coolant rad solves the heat soak issue. And I agree 69 is correct oil coolers are not designed for coolant. There would be issues. Very interested in your project JDI. You are on the right track.
