Hello, as you can see from picture attached plate from trunk has become detached after my son tried to open the back, it came off, further more after that the back wiper has stopped working which I suspect is due to that. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks.
That's a very common problem on the Gen 2. very weak mounting system for it. It's called the hatch garnish and is available aftermarket or ebay. Also very easy to replace using just a 10mm socket and ratchet wrench. Probably plenty of videos on you-tube on how to do it. Most aftermarket ones are black or chrome. Ebay usually has quite a good selection of used ones that you can find in color to match your car. I think I even have a silver one on a shelf somewhere.
30 bucks on eBay when you put the new one in there's two places you can add two screws little small machine screws and that's probably won't happen again and keeping your trunk well clean and the top part of the gasket lubricated any of the rubber lubricants will do fine whatever Just keeps the gasket from sticking to what is resting on all that used to be kept clean very rarely do people clean that part of the car.
