Hey Priuschat! It's been a VERY long time since I've actually posted here. I've been lurking for some time. It's that time for me to replace my engine air filter, and cabin air filter. I've narrowed it down to two that I want to buy - but was wondering if anyone had comments on either of them.

    Engine air filter:http://www.amazon.com/dp/product/B004JHBKLS?tag=priuschatcom-20 from Amazon.

Cabin air filter:http://www.amazon.com/dp/product/B004C65F12?tag=priuschatcom-20 anyone has either of these and can comment if they fit well (especially the FRAM filter). Thank you! They both look like they'll work great, but I'd like some re-assurance or input before I order. Thanks again!

I've used Wix air & cabin filters on my Prius, they fit fine. Got them at a local parts store.

Why don't you get the ones from the dealer? Usually the material on the OE toyota air filters are fuzzy (not always true with aftermarket) and the cabin air filter has some electrostatic coating.

Alright, great. Thanks for your input!
I guess because I like to get things for cheap. The dealer will probably charge 20+ for each of these if not more. The cabin filter I listed is sold by a Toyota dealer in California. It should be the same filter I'd get from my dealer, but a lot cheaper.

Those two filters are ridiculously easy to replace. You only have to loosen one Philips screw for the engine filter, and the cabin filter is tool-less.

There is no need to loosen the clamp to change the engine filter.

right you are. I wanted to take the whole thing off so I could clean it out, but it turned out to be clean.

Thanks for the comments guys. I appreciate the feedback! I'll either order them from the links others have suggested in this thread, or go to the dealer. Either way - doesn't really matter to me. Thanks once again fellow Priuschatters!

As per the advise of my Mechanic who had to replace the MAP sensor on my 03 Tacoma, do not buy fram engine air filters. Sure they are cheap. You get what you pay for. The fibers from the cheap fram engine air filter I put in my Tacoma screwed up my map senser and cost plenty to replace. Buy cheap you will pay later. Only use Toyota air filters. The cabin filter doesnt matter but the engine air filter does.

I've tried the fram cabin filter with activated charcoal. I didn't notice any difference but the charcoal made a mess inside the plastic bracket in the car.

I'd just buy both OEM engine and cabin filters but that's just me.

Stay oem with all filters it's not worth the couple dollars saved if the cheap filter degrades or does not filter properly. It can lead to big dollar problems later or a Warranty issue and don't throw the Magnussin law at me LoL.

Thanks for all the tips everyone! I just got back from the dealership who charged me $99 for oil change and tire rotation. They told me the cabin filter was dirty and wanted to charge me $61 pre tax. I quickly went on Amazon and saw OEM filters for significantly less. This sounds too easy so going to replace myself, but can anyone recommend any service depts in the SoCal OC area that aren't trying to completely screw you?
