Hi All. My 3rd Gen Prius’s alarm has started to go off randomly. Just this morning it went off unprovoked, just as I was going to grab the key fob from the key rack it turned itself off. I was told it went off yesterday as well when I wasn’t around so I unlocked the car so I could start researching this. Then it went off again. A quick search hasn’t found anything yet. It’s a 2010 top level ‘V‘ with both the Navigation and Advanced Technology packages in case this makes any difference to figuring this out. In the meantime is there a fuse or something I can pull to disable the alarm? Thank you for you help.
Bump. It still does this maybe twice a month. Did it yesterday 3x in 15-20min with nothing disturbing the car. Pls help.
FWIW What causes an alarm to activate? The easiest answer may be an open door. Perhaps the sensors in the door jams (or lift gate jam) are dirty or mis-aligned. Lastly, maybe not Prius specific, Merc Benz alarms have batteries in them; maybe the Prius does too and replacement is needed? Good luck.
