The alarm went off this morning while we were having breakfast. I could see the car through the restaurant window and no vehicle or person was near it. As far as I know, we just have the factory theft deterrent system (immobilizer) not the alarm accessory. What would cause the alarm to be initiated (lights and horn)? The only idea that I have is that the alarm button on the fob in my pocket or in my wife's purse was accidentally depressed for more than a second which has never happened before and seems unlikely. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I think that seems a lot MORE likely than any other explanations. And if you can't duplicate it, visiting a shop to "test" it is probably a waste of time.
Ours happens if fob accidentally pressed. Even happened once when I sat down with fob and stuff in pocket. Normal I think.
My Lock and Unlock buttons get accidentally pressed in my pocket surprisingly often, at least a half dozen times a year. The Panic button gets similarly pressed less often, but it still happens, and has on all three of cars of mine that had such buttons.
Most all of my pants have a "watch pocket". Perfect for a FOB; buttons never get pushed by accident. I have had two FOBs go through the wash and dry. Both survived.
