In an older message thread there was a discussion whether the 2004 Black Prius is clearcoated. Some people believe they are not. My sales person assured me that the Black was clearcoated. The body shop that does their paint work assured them that the Black was clearcoated. The (different) body shop where I had some work done on my 2004 Black Prius said it was clearcoated. The service manager at the dealership where I bought my car said it was clearcoated. I wrote to Toyota Canada on the issue and receive the following reply: ""We have looked into your inquiry and have found that all of the exterior paint colours on the 2004 Prius include a clear coat." That satisfies me unless someone can come up with something more definitive.
