Hello, Ok, this is something strange. My 3rd mini vci is burned to........ I really don't understand why all my mini vci's are burning. When i put one in my prius and start the software, they burn. Literally burn and smoke. An other standard OBD reader works fine Someone the same problem
My first question is are the products all from the SAME source. If so, I would suspect that might put you on track for an answer to your own question. I've had two different ones from different suppliers. Neither had an issue. However, for my second one, I spent nearly double ($38 USD) to get one that claimed to be much better built than the rest of the herd. It does seem to be a little more "hefty." Oh, the first one I got arrived and the plastic casing was cracked. I used it once as it was an emergency sort of thing -- I had to diagnose that day. It worked, but I sent it back the same day for a refund.
Thanks for the advise, but i found the solution.......buy a new laptop. The USB port in that thing was totally messed up
