My car was at the local Toyota dealership last week for DTC 3191 (separate thread for anybody interested) and the mechanic noted that the insulation for air-fuel sensor had been munched on by rodents and replacement was recommended. Seilerts mentioned that he just wraps the wires in electrical tape rather than exchanging the sensor, and I thought I would do the same. But if I am id'g the wire correctly, this one looks in fine shape to me. Wrong place, problem mechanic, or I am missing the obvious ?
That looks like the downstream O2 sensor. The A/F sensor is a little hidden behind the connection of the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. It has the accursed aluminum collar around it, which is why a special tool is required.
