Compared to my Pioneer headunit's output in my Civic, the Prius 6 speaker stock system leaves a lot to be desired. Having said that, I really do like the feel of the push buttons and the small screen and have zero intention of getting an aftermarket head unit to replace it.

My primary concern is lack of equalizer in the factory unit and not enough oomph. So I want to replace all six speakers and get an small 50W RMS amplifier that will allow me to boost the signal significantly.

I looked at a small Kicker unit, but it does not provide any equalizer function. Instead, it has a tiny microphone which listens to audio output and automatically adjusts frequencies with no manual input possible.

Has anyone used an amp like this before and if so, how was your experience?

Perhaps more importantly, can anyone recommend an amp that is not a power hog, produces decent sound and offers either physical equalizer or at least software controlled eq?

Edit: I am not interested in getting a subwoofer. Just six speakers to replace the stock ones.
