Like a lot of folks I've looked at the AMT numbers. In my situation the 2006 tax credit is likely to reduce my taxes, but only by something less than $1,000. Our 15-year old Camry is still running, so we're not in a rush. Are we likely to see Prius prices soften in the quarter (3rd? 4th?) when the tax credits start to phase out? I can imagine that this will be a disincentive to some in the market, but really doesn't matter to me because 50% of the maximum credit is still more than I can use.
