While waiting for my firmware to be flashed (SSC-40d), I spent some time wandering around the Toyota sales lot looking at cars and dodging salesfolk. The Scions were of particular interest to me; I never before realized how diminuative they are! Kind of like a compact Geo Metro, only the xB comes packaged in its own box.

Anyway, one of the xBs was well kitted out, bringing the price to around $18,500. Among the many overpriced line items was:

    "Illuminated Cup Holders. $299"

If this is the same "feature" that the new Lexus models come with, then it is essentially two blue LEDs that shine into the cup holder cavities. Cost of parts, $1.28 if you miss the sale.

...kind of puts a new, er, light on the Navigation system and satellite radio costs.
