A California man stepped out of his car to take a phone call. Moments later, a four-foot boulder crushed his vehicle. (yahoo.com) Looks like leather interior too.
Ironically the guy was probably in more danger walking around on the roadside while rocks were rolling down the hill He should buy a lottery ticket
I will never understand why so many people think Malibu is a great place to live. It has it all, if "all" means earthquakes, wildfires, tsunamis, rock falls, mudslides, landslides, and rich a$$holes driving way too fast (when that is possible) in their stupid expensive sports cars. The highway that runs through it is, as often as not, a parking lot. Alternate routes? Not unless your car can fly or swim. (OK, technically one could take one of the canyon roads way inland, then around, but not so much while the current natural disaster is playing out.) I admit the beaches are nice, if one is into that, and the drive up to Point Mugu on PCH is fun on one of those rare days when there is little traffic.
Sure, but not any nicer than down the coast in regions not wedged in tightly between the hills and the ocean. For instance, Santa Monica or Venice Beach. Malibu appeals to a certain crowd in that it is "exclusive", in the same way that Beverly Hills is. The real estate is insanely expensive and only really, really, really rich people can afford to buy there.
